When did your fitness journey start? And why did you get into fitness?
I played sports throughout my whole life and lived a very active lifestyle prior to going to university. My specific focus on improvement through the gym began four years ago during covid when I was no longer playing sports and everything I had taken for granted in my life regarding physical fitness and ability was shaken. Eventually I decided to make a change and I approached the personal trainer at my campus gym and I’ve never turned back.
What made you want to become a personal trainer?
I loved being in the gym and saw the improvements in my day-to-day life and wanted to help share that with others after seeing how that one interaction with a personal trainer benefited my life. Everyone has a different background and reason for wanting to better themselves and I respect anyone who wants to take that action for themselves. This uniqueness to each person also provides an interesting challenge every time it comes to training, which I also enjoy.
What is your favourite style of workout? Why?
Athletic training and bodybuilding are some of my favourites but I enjoy all forms of training as long as it’s helping someone get one step towards their goals. I personally enjoy training legs the best as not only is it a physical battle but also a mental one. The mental and physical effects after a hard leg day are extremely beneficial and I love it.
What can clients expect from you during a session?
They can expect to be pushed. Nothing feels better than reaching that point where you think you can’t go on but you do anyway. Then looking back and seeing how far you’ve come is so rewarding. I’m here to help push you beyond where you think you currently are and help motivate you to keep reaching for that goal, whatever it may be.
Why do you think fitness is so important?
So much of our everyday lives is sedimentary or mentally draining. Personal fitness (whether it be physical or mental) can vastly improve someone’s quality of life and becomes addicting once you get a taste of it. The secondary effects of personal fitness are often overlooked but are arguably some of the best reasons to improve your fitness
