Things to Avoid When Hiring an Edmonton Personal Trainer

We are so lucky to have access to some of the best personal trainers in Edmonton! They are knowledgeable and passionate about fitness, and they really care about helping their clients reach their goals. But like any industry, there are some bad apples, and here are some tips on what to avoid when looking for an Edmonton personal trainer.

First and foremost, you’ll want to make sure your trainer is certified. Not only are you paying them your hard-earned money, you’re also trusting them with your health and fitness goals. A factor in not reaching your goals is through injury, and by hiring an uneducated Edmonton personal trainer will make it much more likely to happen.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Trainers who promise the world right away are probably the ones you want to stay away from. Most people hire a personal trainer because they have some pretty ambitious fitness goals- which is amazing!  But if your trainer agrees that all your goals can be accomplished quickly, they are probably wanting your money more than your best interest. If losing weight or getting jacked was easy, everyone would be able to do it on their own.

To build off the last paragraph, hire an Edmonton personal trainer that will explain the process to your success. Every trainer should be able to breakdown your big ambitious goal into mini goals along the way. So before paying them ask, “How are we going to reach this goal?” You should truly understand and realize the reality on how much work it will actually take.

Always take advantage of the trial session. Sitting down and talking with your potential coach is so important. Not only should they really try to get to know you, but you should do the same. You are going to want a coach who you can talk to, someone who cares about you, and someone who is going to work as hard for you as you will for them.

Maybe start by buying a smaller training package. In general each workout might be a little more expensive, but you are going to want to make sure the trainer is the right fit for you for the long term. Unfortunately there are many Edmonton personal trainers who are flakey. They will cancel last minute, show up late, or not show up at all. You want to make sure your trainer is as committed to you as you are to them.

Once again, there are many amazing Edmonton personal trainers, but just make sure you do your research- search the internet, ask friends, read testimonials etc… I am sure there is an amazing trainer out there waiting to help you reach your goals!
