What is an essential piece of equipment for a home gym?

We have been getting a lot of questions lately about what is an essential piece of gym equipment when putting together a home gym.  Through my experience people really tend to over think fitness in general and they also think they need the newest toy to reach their fitness goals- this is not the case. There is a reason why certain pieces of equipment are found in every gym.

Hands down the best piece of exercise equipment for a home gym is adjustable dumbbells. Dumbbells are one of the most versatile pieces in a gym and they take up very little space! Dumbbells can be used to work any muscles group in the entire body.  Resistance training with dumbbells has become a popular form of fitness for people of all ages and abilities. It is an important part of any fitness routine as it helps to improve muscular strength, endurance, and overall health. Resistance training also provides many other benefits that can help improve your quality of life.

Resistance training is an effective way to build muscle strength and endurance. Exercising with free weights such as dumbbells helps to increase the size and strength of muscles by forcing them to contract against resistance provided by the weight. This type of exercise also increases your metabolic rate, which in turn can help you burn more calories throughout the day even when at rest. Additionally, regular resistance training can improve bone density and reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis later in life.

Perform 12-15 repetitions of each exercise with a 30 second break between movements. Repeat 4-6 times and you will hit every major muscle group in your body in just 20 minutes!
